Private Practice for Psychotherapy in Berlin
At my private practice in Berlin Mitte, you will receive professional help with mental health issues and relationship conflicts. After completing my studies in psychology, I trained as a German state-certified psychological psychotherapist and I am passionate about my job. In my work as a psychologist, I greatly value being able to support people with a wide range of mental health issues, applying a variety of modern psychotherapeutic approaches.
Feel free to contact me via psych.jeken@web.de for appointments if you are interested in psychotherapy, counselling or couples therapy.
About me:
I was born and raised in Paderborn and studied psychology at the University of Twente in Enschede, the Netherlands. A course in humanistic psychology sparked my passion for psychotherapy and my desire to become a therapist. I wanted to offer people a space where they feel accepted and can grow as human beings. After completing my studies, I trained as a state-certified psychological psychotherapist in Berlin.
In my work as a psychotherapist, I appreciate being able to support people with a variety of mental health issues and relationship conflicts, using a range of modern psychotherapeutic approaches. I have worked in various psychiatric wards and in the psychosomatic department of the Charité University Hospital, and I am currently working in the field of psycho-oncology at the Charité Comprehensive Cancer Center.
I am trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mainly rely on the latest developments in this field of psychotherapy (the so-called “third wave of CBT”). My clinical work is particularly influenced by schema therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and emotion-focused therapy. This means that my therapies are very experiental and active. My approach is informed by humanistic and existential thinking. My work is trauma-sensitive, queer-friendly, and affirms neurodiversity. The main areas of treatment in my practice are trauma-related disorders (e.g., depression, PTSD, personality disorders) and obsessive-compulsive disorders.
Before and during my studies, I lived in Peru, Mexico, and the Netherlands. In addition to German and English, I speak Spanish and Dutch. Although I do not (yet) offer therapy in Spanish or Dutch, I encourage my clients to use these languages during our work together if they find it helpful.
